IndyFurCon: Frequently Asked Questions

What is IndyFurCon and when is it?

IndyFurCon is a convention that takes place in Indiana, USA during the fall and will be taking place August 23-25th, 2024.

Learn more about IndyFurCon at https://2024.indyfurcon.org/about-us/ !

No, you do not need to be a furry to come to our convention, however IndyFurCon is a primarily a furry convention, so please remain respectful of the attendees who do identify as furry.  Many of our attending members also overlap in anime, science fiction, LGBTQA+, and other circles.

You are welcome to join us as an ally, a family member, or simply a curious member of the public.  There will be programming event spaces that require you to register in order to attend, you may find out more from the Registration links on our website!

Absolutely not!  A fursuit is a luxury good some people have taken the time to create and/or purchase.  Only 10-20% of our attendees bring fursuits (our parade count was 330 in 2023); fursuits tend to be easy to notice, so it can feel like more people have and showcase them.

No, it is not a requirement to own/bring/wear a fursuit to come to IndyFurCon.  You don’t even have to be a furry to enjoy a furry con, but don’t be shocked if you start enjoying anthropomorphic artwork (furry means you are a fan of this) more after you spend a weekend with us!

We are an all-ages convention! IndyFurCon has a reputation of being a good first-time con for families, hosting activities and panels that appeal to many interests and age groups.  We regularly see many families attend, especially on Saturday when we will host our two minor-exclusive panels.  We had over 200 minors attend our convention in 2023.

Details about attending minors can both be found in our Policies , on the Registration page, and in the Registration FAQs tab.

We will also be hosting some Adult-rated programming and a Night Market on Friday night & Saturday night.  All adult-rated panels will notate a maturity rating in the description (found on Sched and in the conbook), and will require ID verification for entrance.

IndyFurCon, and its parent corporation Indiana Anthropomorphic Arts, is a 501(c)7 organization. That means it falls under the same category as “fraternal organizations” since we felt that we really do not meet the Federal standards of a “pure public charity” or an “educational institution.” Donations to IndyFurCon or Indiana Anthropomorphic Arts are not deductible from Federal taxes. Donations made directly to our sponsored charity may be tax deductible.

For all your registration needs, check below; if you still have questions, please email registration@indyfurcon.com .

Register: Can I register online?

Yes! IndyFurCon strongly encourages our attendees to register via our fast and secure online registration process. It will allow us to make sure your badge and information is prepared and you will be able to go through the much faster pre-registration line to obtain your badge.

Not at this time.  We are not accepting mail-in registrations nor are we mailing out badges for 2024.

Great Question! All changes, excluding date of birth change, can be done by logging into the registration system. You are able to easily make these changes up through August 4th; beyond that point we cannot guarantee any changes made will be reflected on printed badges. Please email registration@indyfurcon.com if you need further assistance.

We cannot accept PayPal payments due to excessive surcharges and other concerns with that service.

Yes!  See more details about our different tiers on the Registration page, you can adjust your badge level within the ConCat registration system.

At this time, we have sold out of SuperSponsorships, however, you are still welcome to upgrade from Attending to Sponsor level.  It is possible we will run out of the Sponsor gifts if many attendees do this, but we would be happy to order more stock to ship to you post-con.

When you see the confirmation page on our ConCat Registration system, you are registered! You will also receive an automated email confirmation of your registration, sent to the email connected to your your ConCat account. This automated email will confirm your membership and the details of the data you provided us this year.

You can verify the status of memberships purchased on your credit card via reg.indyfurcon.com, or feel free to drop us an email at registration@indyfurcon.com . We would be happy to help you confirm your registration!

If it has been several weeks since your registration purchase and you still see no listed registration on your ConCat account, email us ASAP.

Absolutely!  We don’t actually need you to bring your receipt or your email, just a form of legal identification that includes: your name, your photo, and date of birth.

We welcome attendees of all ages. People under 18 will, however, have to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or have a signed Parental Consent for Minor Attendee form, which can be found here. We apologize if this is an inconvenience. You MUST have the original signed and notarized forms available at the time you pick up your badge – NO EXCEPTIONS.

No. If you will be an adult (18 years of age) at the time of picking up your badge in registration, you will not need the signed Parental Consent for Minor Attendee form nor a signed Notary Form for Parental Consent for Minor Attendees form, which can be found here. If you are not an adult (18 years of age) as of that time, you will be required to have a signed Parental Consent for Minor Attendee form and a Notary Form for Parental Consent for Minor Attendees form even if you become an adult during the course of the convention. For 2024, this date would be August 21st. If your 18th birthday occurs during the convention, you may return to registration with proper identification and exchange you minor badge for an adult badge

Any person above the age of 18 who wishes to attend still needs to purchase a Badge in order to enter any panel room, any of the convention events, or the dealer space. Parents who get their own Badges may have up to 2 children (13 and under) accompany them for free, however children of ages 14-17 will still be required to purchase a Minor Badge in order to attend the convention. Further questions may be directed to registration@indyfurcon.com .

You will need a valid (non-expired) government-issued I.D. that bears your name, your picture, and your date of birth. Examples include: a valid driver’s license, a passport, or a state-issued ID card. A school ID or work photo ID will partially work, but it would need to be accompanied by a second form of ID that lists your name and date of birth to properly validate your identity.

We do require you to have some form of photo I.D. We are unable to admit anyone who is not able to show legal identification. Most states offer I.D. cards for people who do not wish or are unable to obtain a drivers’ license. If you cannot obtain a state-issued I.D., you will still need a form of official I.D. that bears your picture (such as a school I.D. or work I.D.) and a second piece of identification that bears your name and date of birth (such as a birth certificate) If you are in doubt, please bring as many pieces of identification you are able to obtain. If you have further questions, we would be happy to answer them at registration@indyfurcon.com .

What time is the Fursuit Parade?

The Fursuit Parade is on Saturday!
Line up starts at 11AM,
Photo at 11:15AM
Parade at 11:30AM.

Check your ConBook on page 37 for the parade map!  You can also see the times on the back of your Badge!

That’s a good question!

We do prefer everyone who is walking in the parade to either be a person wearing a Fursuit or be a handler for a fursuiter who is walking in the parade.

If you have further questions about this, please email programming@indyfurcon.com !

Three different things!

The nightly dances are DJ-mixed music & light shows courtesy of our A/V Team & Vendor.  These occur in the later hours of each night at con.  All ages are welcome, come to dance or just enjoy the music.

The Fursuit Dance Competition is a showcase of dancing fursuiters.  These dancers choose their music and choreography ahead of time to deliver a dazzling performance to the audience and a panel of judges. This event is very popular, so arriving early to grab seats can be wise.

Floor Warz is a dance-off competition of dancers, wearing suits or not, with music previously unknown to them, doing their best to impress the judges and audience with their skills to improvise and out-dance anyone else. This can also be a popular event, so early arrivals can get better seating.

You’ve got three options!

1. Navigate via this link: 2024 SCHEDULE
2. Take a look at our drop-down menu, choose Programming, and then Schedule!
3. If you are at the con, we will have posters on the wall showing the schedule and more details about the panels may be found within our ConBooks and the Sched website.

We utilize Sched, an event planning resource that works in the Sched app, and Sched website.

Any panels that are marked as 18+ or 21+ will be ID-checked at the door.

Panels with other ratings are parental advisory ratings, to help attendees and their family have a guide to content & language usage.  Panels with the 18+ or 21+ rating will only be accessible by bringing your ID with you when you enter.

Please check our Hotel page for general information about the convention hotel.
Below are some FAQs and direction for where to go with your hotel questions:

How do I get a hotel room for IndyFurCon?

A few months prior to con, IndyFurCon opens up a room block at the con hotel to help attendees have space close to con programming events.

2024’s Con Block has already opened and closed, but you can still check our hotel reservation links (for the Wyndham and other hotels) for opportunities nearby and last minute cancellations.

For questions regarding your reservation, if you booked within the hotel block, you can find answers from the hotel website or by calling the Wyndham itself.  Room reservations done under a group rate often requires speaking to a hotel sales representative to ensure you continue to keep your discounted room rate.

If you booked at another hotel, please contact that hotel with your questions.

Not at all!  We are delighted to have attendees who live local or stay at neighboring hotels as well.  Having a designated convention hotel allows the opportunity for closer access to con space, not a requirement for where to stay overnight.

Special requests regarding your room usually needs to happen via the hotel communication.  Please contact your hotel front desk with your requests, so they can be added to your reservation details.

If you need a special accomodation in anything beyond your hotel room, please email the Board of Directors for considerations before con.

We should be having free parking at IndyFurCon!  Please stop by the Front Desk when visiting con, you can retrieve a free parking pass to use during the convention weekend.  You need this in your vehicle to exit the parking lot without paying fees.  If you are staying at another hotel, you may inquire if they offer a shuttle service to bring you to the Wyndham during the day.

This parking waiver may not apply on Wednesday before or Monday after con, so please be aware there might be parking fees on non-convention days at the Wyndham’s parking areas.

I run a local event or furry con, does IndyFurCon do advertising?

IndyFurCon does do Ad-swaps with other conventions and events!  Please check out our page about this here:

If you are looking for general advertising, please email our marketing team with your inquiries.

Fantastic!  Please send an email to our marketing team to help us work with you to get your panel boosted on social media!  There may be deadlines for requests on this, so ask sooner than later!

Thank you for your interest!  Send an email to our marketing team with your inquiry and we will see if we can assist you with social media boosting.

At the moment, Indiana Anthropomorphic Arts only hosts IndyFurCon, though you will see our staff and attendees come to other conventions and local meet-ups around the Midwest and farther.  Once we have more details about local events, we will post a page about them!
